Smoothies are a great way of getting your fruits and veggies in. I jumped on this bandwagon about a year ago and I love it. I particularly enjoy trying out new and surprising recipes.
Today I decided to try a green smoothie. The idea of mixing fruits and veggies never really attracted me as it felt like I was turning myself into some kind of baby that needed her food pre-chewed. I don’t know what it is but I’m currently having a love affair with spinach. I put it in everything. Even though my smoothie doesn’t look that appetising, trust me, it is. Plus, it’s healthy. I’m trying to be more conscious of what I eat.
This recipe is inspired by one that I found at fitnessmagazine.com. I didn’t have any of the ingredients so I took alternatives for everything and it came out completely different but still really good. Feel free to do the same with this one. To the recipe now…
- 2 to 3 handfuls of spinach leaves
- 1 handful of frozen fruit mixture of choice
- 1 small apple
- 100ml of juice of choice for consistency and flavour
Throw all that in your blender, blend and voila!!
I would have this smoothie with a hardboiled egg for protein.
Today, I decided to go with peanut butter and jam on a cracker.
Let me know if you try this!
